About Me
My sons and I have 2 Thorneycroft Nubians....1 is 1957 Mk1 LFT with a body built by Melbourne Body builder Wormalds. Powered by B81 with manual box. see http://www.allisons.org/ll/4/Thornycroft/Nubian/ for photos of the vehicle awaiting restoration.Vehicle served with both RAAF and Civil Aviation RFFS.
Seventeen Thornycroft Nubians of varying Mks were delivered between April and December 1958, with a further sixteen delivered between October 1959 and early 1960s.
Number 2 is a 1973 Major ( and a spare appliance with no motor or gearbox). It requires a bit of TLC but is a good runner and pumps fine. Powered by a Cummins 903t with an Allison auto box. The Major will be complete with donor parts/panels from the spare, we have just started restoration work. This vehicle served with Department of Aviation RFFS and New South Wales Bush Fire Brigades at Bathurst Airport.
