About Me
I live in Gloucester which is a lovely place to live. I run a website for enthusiasts of ex military fire appliances which now has over 200 members worldwide. I own an ex Royal Air Force Range Rover Carmichael TACR2a (Truck airfield Crash Rescue Mk 2a) which was based at RAF Lossiemouth for all of its service life. I bought it in 2001 straight from active service and it is fully operational and equipt as 'in service'. For further infromation please visit: www.thesixappealwheelgroup.org & for over 9,000 pictures of various types of airfield/aircraft appliances and associated vehicles. This is billy no mates at the group site at billing. Give clive,Walter and john a pat on the back at continually attending these venues when no one else makes an effort. (end of rant, lonely and bored. I spend ages getting a pitch and wish people would attend )
Hi Walt,
Many thanks for the help and the photo's etc. Regards Sam
Walt, you mentioned scanning in documents. Such a shame you're not closer I'd have happily scanned some in. That said I've two manuals for the TACR2 if you want them - just send me an email clara@tacr2.co.uk because I can't find your address (owing to being at work right now).
Many thanks! I am really pleased to have found this group. Dan W.
Sorry to hear of your recent misfortune. I hope it gets sorted out very soon! x
Great to meet you at London 2 Brighton, what a Sunday - a perfect baptism in to the group. Have posted the pictures we took. Look forward to the next event!
great to be on board....
shall post some of my pics, instead of father doing it!!
Good to speak with you Walt. FIngers crossed we as a group can bring back some of these 6 wheeled beauties to rally again!
Thanks very much for the pictures. I found the last one in an album on the main album site. Hope you enjoy the pictures, there are quite a few!!
Walt.
Thanks for the welcome, yes we did have a commando & i will attempt to publish some photo's shortly
Hi Admin
yes I am based at bournemouth airport, thanks for welcoming me to the group.
Richard, This is great news. I have been wondering where this had gone, even if it still exsisted?
Now I know. Is it as it was in service? Or stripped? Fantastic!
Hi Walt
I was just looking through your photo album of Commando 6x4 and came across the Humberside Airport Commando OFW 751 M. I don't know if this is of interest to you, but it is presently in my yard under going a from the ground up retoration and will hopefully be back on the road by late summer. regards Richard
Thankyou for the warm welcome, still finding my way around the site, but hope to be able to contribute soon with some of my photo's and maybe the odd story... Ivan.
Yes Ian, My older PC is down and I mislaid your number and e mail.I now live in Gloucester since January.
Hi Walt, have you moved? I tried to telephone you and it says number not recognised. Trust you are well? KR. Ian.

Hello James, I have some pictures that a friend took a RAF Benson of the tool kits carried there but nothing with any detail. I have a list of standard items carried in a folder which I will scan for you. Is this any help?
thats good news then. I am hoping to go to the meeting in june if the tacr is done in time. Its just started to have a bit off work done.
can you help out with one thing. I've got a tacr2 tool box from steve shirley and after photos off the tool layout in side this is the plywood box that they had from new? james 01rn04 |
