My V5 says that the TACR2 is a 2 axle vehicle, however I'm a 3 axle (all driving). Has anyone had any problems notifiying the DVLA with this change?

My V5 says exactly the same,i've left it at that as it can be alot of hassle getting it changed as you have to prove to DVLA that the conversion was done properly etc.All they have done is left the details as they were when the car's were originally first aquired from Land Rover.I hope that this helps. So far i have not had any problems with DVLA or the insurance people.

Coincidentally, I just got my log book through this morning. Mine states 3 axle rigid body however has other details which are incorrect. Through preliminary discussions with my my local DVLA office they seemed to lack experience, knowledge and understanding and said it would have to go to Swansea (who had directed me to local branch in first place). I wish you luck getting the details changed! I'm sending mine back for a change of colour and have decided to change the axles to incorporate the third with a covering note explaining who did the conversion and when. I'd rather have some hassle NOW than wait until I rear end a BMW driver and enter any legal discussions. I'll let you know how I get on. Not that I actually intend on hunting down a BMW just to test out my crash bar. A Mercedes will do.

Hi Clara. I have been through this and worse when reregistering the Falkland Islands Machine in the UK (Many thanks to Alisdair who got it on the DVLA radar in the first place) I had wrong weight and date of manufacture and like you decided to persevere and get it right. The weight issue was not too bad as the local office (Worcester) realised that the vehicle weight quoted must have been the original Range Rover weight and so were happy to change that themselves. However getting the date of registration changed was a long and protracted job. Swansea would not accept my word on it, and to be fair to them they must get hundereds of similar requests not all of which can be genuine, so I guess they use how persistent you are as a part measure of how genuine you are. It is right that Swansea cannot be experts on every vehicle ever made so I think that as long as you give them as much information as you can (Photographs always help) and are diligent in answering all their questions you will get there in the end. I offered to take my machine along to the local office so they could see for themselves but they said that was not necessary. They are only human after all and are probably trying to avoid paperwork, false claims, and anoraks! Good Luck.

Hi I had this problem. Sent DVLA a photo of the vehicle a photocopy of Carmichael's weight plate showing it had 3 axles and a covering letter. The v5 came back about 2 weeks later with the changes, no problem at all. Hope this helps. regards Rich

Sounds promising Rich! Hopefully they'll do the same here. Thanks for the idea of photographing the weight plate - I hadn't thought of that one. We're going into the paintshop on the 16th - 27th December so hopefully things will start moving on and we can actually get out and have fun at events next season!

I remember the hassle I had when I contacted swansea about mine, some of the people there didn't seem to have a clue! One told me that there was no such vehicle, and could not be persuaded otherwise! Talking to the worcester office might be a good idea, if it hasn't been closed. Failing that, if you get an imbecile, hang up and try again till you get someone that's not a brain donor (which is how I evetually cracked it). Get their name, next time you call ask for them personally. (oh how I wish I'd thought of this at the time)
