I hope you do not mind being contacted in this way. One of our members had his Land Rover stolen last night (Details below). This has served as a bit of a wake up call to get some major precautions in place. Could you, in the first instance, please forward the information below to all of your members to be on the lookout, as well as to check their own precautions ?it is generally acknowledged that Land Rovers and similar are stolen to order rather than by joyriders, so in when one goes, many will in an area ?we have seen this on various forums, IE, Sheffield at Christmas, and Currently (as recently as last night) in the northants area. Secondly, I would like to suggest that we try and create some form of mailing list20which would allow us to send immediate notification of stolen vehicles to all our members. Stolen vehicles cannot just evaporate, but we need to get peoples eyes open before they disappear into warehouses and containers.Within our club, we are working on creating a database with full details of each vehicle ?chassis number, registration, engine numbers, part serial numbers, full details of all modifications, photos etc, so that we can send out details as rapidly as possible. I would be happy to co-ordinate this for as many clubs as wish to be involved, or supply a ?blank? copy for you to use. We also have a mailing list for stolen vehicles about to go live, which I would be more than happy to add people or mailing list email addresses to.
